‘From the sky to the sea; city streets to remote places’
Presented by Rob Bridge, 22nd January 2024
Those recently joined club members when asked if they knew of fellow member ‘Rob Bridge’ the answer was ‘No’ – who is he - what does he look like?
Well, after two hours worth of wonderful images they were left in no doubt who Rob was and what his passions are in photography. Quietly spoken, and very modest Rob stunned the audience with his superb images.
Initially, we were treated to a very varied selection of evocative cityscapes of San Francisco, Chicago and of course London in addition to his inspired architectural studies. Rob’s partner - he confided in us, was often left fast asleep whilst he crept out at ‘ungodly’ hours to catch the sunrise – but the results certainly made up for his efforts as we all came to appreciate.
Using a DJI Mavic drone of considerable cost, Rob had managed to image historic homes and wonderful countryside in such a way as to import a new dimension and technological approach to landscape photography. The approach and diligence of this effort as well as his enthusiasm came across to all who were present, with Rob imparting his knowledge and recollections of drone flying and the occasional hiccup.
But, cityscapes, architecture and drone images were not all Rob produced. Superb images of ethereal misty moody ruins of Corfe Castle, or Glastonbury Tor or Heavily Hoar Frost laden trees followed one after the other. Scotland, Iceland, Yorkshire or across the pond – these were the photographic playgrounds of one of our very own and didn’t he do well!!
Now we all know who Rob Bridge is - and were left wanting for more!!
