Folk dance is theatrical and dynamic – I love the energy and enthusiasm of the performers and the way they give tradition and costume a modern twist.
My panel conveys the spirit of these festivals by including character studies and elements of the performance. It shows the natural spontaneity of folk dancers and musicians in action. The performers are unposed and not overly conscious of the camera. Where the backgrounds are full of visual clutter I have reduced these to impressions of the original scene.
I can hear the music and feel the movement through my pictures.
